Sorry All Who Are Concerned. This coming sunday (the 29th of July) the Mimetiks will not be playing at Saje. We will be in Vermont as a good friend of ours gets married and then rushing back to the city for private evening party in the city. So — those of you in need of the live fix – we’ll be back at it next Sunday (the 5th of August) with old tunes, new tunes, and the same ole’ gusto.
to hold you over… here’s a little something we borrowed from Miles Davis.

Hey All,
Looks like our Tuesdays at Saje will be canceled until the beginning of September. Apologies, but it would seem Tuesday Night wasn’t as bangingin’ (yes : bangingin’) as it could be and we don’t want to put unnecessary strain on the good people over at Saje.
Never fear, however, for a lack of live music. there are still hip things happening over at Saje and we’ve still got a month of Sundays coming up for you. it will only mean that we put that much more energy into our Sunday afternoon sets.
Hope the Summer is otherwise bangingin’ for every body.
see you sundays,
Akie

oh. has it been a minute or what? apologies to the heads who do check in on us. kyle’s been traveling and I’ve been sick. and luke has been working all kinds of stuff in the city. still, we are back in the swing of things. there have been a couple of missed days (due primarily to my being sick) but i’ve seem to back on the horse and the agenda remains, as ever, to bring fresh music from the brooklyn-side of things.
it’s summer time and that means summer romance. summer lovin’ (happened so fast….). and also… sweet summer rain (which we’ve had a little bit of a few days back). the good thing about having been on the downtime for so long is that we have a lot of new material. material we flipped to the back burner while all the shazzlebeenazzlebees were going down. as we attempt to make that available to you, i do have some great tracks live from the weekly Saje sessions.

i heard you
this is a tune that came to pass during one of those loooooooong tuesday nights when we keep seeming to run through more tunes than we have and we’re forced to come up with something new (you’d think after coming up with all the new stuff we’d stop running into this problem, but…). a groove based primarily on misconceptions which worked out to be in seven – which was weird. fortunately, luke is not stranger to un-even time signatures and he kept the momentum, churlishly chugging along. so, despite its best efforts to thwart us, we made it through. started the song and finished it… without losing control and… well… losing control. and so, the draft-version of i heard you was born.
